Union County Homes for Sale and Real Estate
Venture just 15 miles from Uptown Charlotte and you can explore the sought-after small towns of Union County. Weddington, Wesley Chapel, and Waxhaw offer an abundance of luxury homes combined with an inviting, family-friendly atmosphere. Linda Klatt, agent with Helen Adams Realty, says many people look to these towns to "move up and out" - particularly families. "The excellent schools have been a huge draw," says Klatt. She also points out that homebuyers are drawn in by the area's signature larger lots and opportunities for new construction. While each town offers something unique, they all share many similarities. Lower Union County property taxes, beautiful neighborhoods and reputable schools to just name a few. Chartered back in 1889, Waxhaw is by far the oldest of the three towns.

Around the Area
Cross over into Union County from South Charlotte and you’ll pass through Marvin, North Carolina. Technically, it’s a village. If you aren’t familiar with it, you’re in the minority. Marvin is one of the fastest growing communities in the state, according to the village website, and Yahoo! named it the best town in North Carolina to live in for two consecutive years. With its rock bottom property taxes, top performing high schools, small town country feel and barely-there drive to Ballantyne and South Charlotte, Marvin is at the top of the list for many prospective homebuyers. One of the community’s high schools, Marvin Ridge High, has been ranked the #5 school in the state out of more than 1,000 high schools, according to 101USA.
Just a few minutes northeast of Waxhaw, homebuyers will discover the lovely, rural expanse of Wesley Chapel. Incorporated in 1998, Wesley Chapel is one of Union County's newest additions. Unlike Waxhaw and Weddington, Wesley Chapel is technically a village instead of a town. The community-centric village is home to a wide array of lovely neighborhoods. While enjoying Wesley Chapel’s more rural setting, residents don’t sacrifice convenience. Wesley Chapel Village Commons boasts a Target, Harris Teeter and numerous restaurants such as Hickory Tavern and Brooklyn Pizza Parlor.
Over in the town of Weddington, homebuyers will find one of the area’s most exclusive neighborhoods, Longview, The gated community features breathtaking old world manor-style homes ranging from cottage style to luxury estates. Jeanette Ropers, agent with Keller Williams, has lived in Longview for seven years. “It’s a great community and everyone is very welcoming,” says Ropers. The Club at Longview offers residents easy access to a variety of amenities, including an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, tennis courts, two pools, workout facilities, a playground and more.
